Today we had our OB check up appointment. This appointment has been hard to get to for some reason. It was re-scheduled twice but finally we got to see the nurse.
Today I’m 16wks or 15wks and 5 days depending who you ask. Our appointment was great. We got nurse Jane (who we had before) and she was great as always. I gave them the beautiful urine sample and she said that everything was fine. She checked my weight and I have not gained any weight since my last visit.
They’re telling me that it’s ok as long as I’m eating healthy and keeping healthy. I told her that I am but I can only eat small portions at the time, otherwise I get sick. She said that it’s ok as long as I’m eating throughout the day. (which I am).
My blood pressure was great at 112 over 74. For some reason I’m always worried about my BP and I’m glad things are going fine.
Then she felt my uterus. It’s right under my belly button. She asked me if I wanted to feel it, so I did. I started to laugh and told her “I thought that was just my fat”. She said “nope, it’s your uterus, aren’t you glad it isn’t (fat)”. Then even Tom got to feel it too and he said that he didn’t expect it to be that hard. LOL
We got to hear out little one’s heart beating and we were told that he/she was between 148-152bpm. Which is great. So we’re happy.
Our official gender scan should be on April 12th and we can’t wait. I found this place near us that does ultrasounds and we just have to pay out of pocket. We made an appointment for this Friday so hopefully we’ll be able to tell.
As far as the baby goes, according to the sites that I’ve visited our little one is measuring the size of an avocado. WOW!!!
Here’s what it’s happening this week:
How your baby’s growing:
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren’t recognizable yet. He’s even started growing toenails. And there’s a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
