Gender Scan!!!! Boy or Girl?

Yesterday was the day! The most anticipated, expected day we’ve had in a while.

Tom and I have been DYING to find the gender of our little one. I know what you’re going to say, wait until the gender scan with the doctor. Sure, why not!?

Because I’m not a patient person AT ALL. I looked all over the place to find somewhere where we could get the 3D/4D ultrasound and the gender peek at the same time. I finally found a place and we scheduled our appointment for yesterday at 4pm.

I was told to eat before going and to bring either orange or apple juice with me.

I had a late lunch at around 2pm and was afraid that it wasn’t enough so I asked my hubby to pass my McDonalds’s drive through. We each got a McFurry with M&Ms and a couple of apple juices.

I made sure to eat it all before we got to our appointment. The gentleman performing our scan was super sweet and assured us that we would be able to see the gender. There I was, laying on that bed (comfortable actually).

I was given a towel to tuck under my pants so the warm gel that he was about to apply wouldn’t get to it. It all began. He measured the heartbeat 142bpm, then he checked the placenta (which was posterior- behind).

I could see our little one wiggling all over the place. I joked with him that the McFurry did the trick and he agreed. Then we were just looking to find the gender.

Although the baby was moving around and showing off it was doing a little too much and all over the place.  It turned it’s back to us and it looked like it was skiing in there or something. The legs were kicking and everything but the ties were glued together. To make matter worse, every time the technician turned on the 3D/4D the baby would put its hand on its face.

Seriously? I got up and walked around a total of 4 times. We took plenty of brakes and I had plenty of fluids.  I felt like a little pancake after a while. He would have me turn to my right, then to my left, then  back on my back……wow what a workout.

Before he checked me again, he said that he believed it was going to be a girl because he saw three lines. Then he said that although it doesn’t mean anything that was a good guess. He said he would not give us anything until he actually saw the deed.

You had to see Tom’s face. Even though I know he would be in so much love with her if it was a girl, I know that he was really rooting for a boy. It would be his parent’s first grandson. He wants that.

After my 4th “break” he joked and said “that’s it, it’s now or you’ll just have to come back another day”. I said, fine, It’s NOW then.

I kid you not, this child only gave us one chance for a good picture. We could finally see it. There was no doubt about it. IT’S A BOY!!!!

We still get to go back for a better, more detailed 3D/4D scan. What can be better than that? I get to see my little boy again and I don’t have to pay again.

Here’s a picture of our little boy. Meet the newest family member, Patryck Marcondes Bocianski.

It's a BOY!!!

OB appointment and 16weeks pregnancy

Belly at 15weeks 1 day

Belly at 15 weeks 1 day. Side view

Today we had our OB check up appointment. This appointment has been hard to get to for some reason. It was re-scheduled twice but finally we got to see the nurse.

Today I’m 16wks or 15wks and 5 days depending who you ask. Our appointment was great. We got nurse Jane (who we had before) and she was great as always. I gave them the beautiful urine sample and she said that everything was fine. She checked my weight and I have not gained any weight since my last visit.

They’re telling me that it’s ok as long as I’m eating healthy and keeping healthy. I told her that I am but I can only eat small portions at the time, otherwise I get sick. She said that it’s ok as long as I’m eating throughout the day. (which I am).

My blood pressure was great at 112 over 74. For some reason I’m always worried about my BP and I’m glad things are going fine.

Then she felt my uterus. It’s right under my belly button. She asked me if I wanted to feel it, so I did. I started to laugh and told her “I thought that was just my fat”. She said “nope, it’s your uterus, aren’t you glad it isn’t (fat)”. Then even Tom got to feel it too and he said that he didn’t expect it to be that hard. LOL

We got to hear out little one’s heart beating and we were told that he/she was between 148-152bpm. Which is great. So we’re happy.

Our official gender scan should be on April 12th and we can’t wait. I found this place near us that does ultrasounds and we just have to pay out of pocket. We made an appointment for this Friday so hopefully we’ll be able to tell.

As far as the baby goes, according to the sites that I’ve visited our little one is measuring the size of an avocado. WOW!!!

Here’s what it’s happening this week:

How your baby’s growing:

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren’t recognizable yet. He’s even started growing toenails. And there’s a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

13 weeks Pregnancy and Planning.

Baby Development - 13 weeks pregnant

Yesterday we turned 13 weeks!!! YAY!! We’re so very excited about all of it.

My parents come to visit this past Tuesday and my mom wanted to know already where the baby’s room was going to be. What I had planned and all that was involved.

Our house has a total of 4 bedrooms. Well really it’s one office + 3 bedrooms. But none the less, we have plenty of options. The problem is that the design of our home is a little different from most homes.

The master bedroom is a little far from the two other rooms and I would not want the baby that far from me anyways. So, we have a little entry way/empty space as the entry of our bedroom and it just has miscellaneous things right now.

I measured it and I think it would be a perfect little place for the first year or two of our little baby.

I showed it to my mom and explained to her my ideas. She loved it. Of course being the crazy planner that I am I already know where everything will go and the measurements of most the furniture.

I believe that I’m a very creative person. Not only because I have the need to save money but because I really enjoy it. I already have 3 pieces of furniture that I want to refurbish and use in the baby’s room. I know this might sound weird to some people.

I know what some of you might be thinking. “Is she crazy? Why isn’t she buying new furniture for her very first baby?”

Well, I’ll spend whatever I need to spend to make my baby super safe. I will, but when it comes to dressers and all that I know that I can make it very special and unique and I can’t pass that up.

I already know the color scheme of the furniture that I want to use. We’re planning on going with a modern crib with white and brown. I’ll make sure that all the other furniture matches too. Don’t you worry.

Anyway. Enough about that. We’re getting way too carried away with all of this already. My husband already wants to start painting the room already. LOL. I asked Tom to wait until after my mother’s birthday. Which we’ll be about 25 weeks pregnant. We’ll see how long we can hold this off for.

Here’s a little bit of what’s going on during our pregnancy at 13 weeks.

13 weeks pregnancy

How your baby’s growing:

Fingerprints have formed on your baby’s tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you’re having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby’s development.

How your life’s changing:

This is the last week of your first trimester, and your risk of miscarriage is now much lower than earlier in pregnancy. Next week marks the beginning of your second trimester, a time of relative comfort for many women who see early pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness and fatigue subside. More good news: Many couples also notice a distinct libido lift around this time. Birth is still months away, but your breasts may have already started making colostrum, the nutrient-rich fluid that feeds your baby for the first few days after birth, before your milk starts to flow

NT Scan – 12 weeks 4 days!!

Our precious little one

We had our NT scan yesterday. I was so scared and anxious about it that I didn’t sleep very well the night before. So, we got to the office and immediately I started to feel all of that anxiety and I started to feel really hot.

I went to the ladies room and noticed that the entire side of my right face was bright red. My right ear was so red that it looked like someone had painted it red.

Finally they call our names. Then the nurse says “Hi, my name is Suzie I’ll be doing your scan today. Let’s get your weight first”. I told her how stressed and scared I was. She said “I understand, I know why.”

For some reason, right away I felt a little calmer.  She just had that voice of reassurance. There I was laying in that bed, waiting for her to start the scan. Right away she shows us the baby and the first thing she says is “there’s the heart beating.”

WOW, our baby is ok. I can breathe now. She tells me to relax and enjoy the scan. I asked if Tom could tape it and she said sure but then she says “I can do it better, I’ll record a DVD for you so dad can enjoy it too”

Like I said, she was really amazing. I’m truly blessed to have gotten her yesterday.
She puts in the disk and waits for it to load until she starts the scan. I got it all on a DVD. It was truly an amazing experience that I can’t even begin to describe.

Here’s a small part of the video:     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxeE5Zz0hhU

Our little sweet pea was jumping all over the place. It’s little arms and hands were waiving around and it wouldn’t stop moving. Right then and there I knew, there is no love like this.

Then there she was looking around to see if she could guess on the sex of the baby. She was brave and she guessed. She did say that it’s early and that she could be wrong but I don’t really mind right now. It was just so amazing to even have a little hint all on itself that I don’t mind right now.

Drum rolls………she guessed that it’s a BOY!

Maybe a boy?!?!?!

Again, we won’t go buying all blue or anything like that but it’s just nice to “know”

Our little one’s heart beat was 160. My cervix was solid and closed. And the best part is that our NT measurements were averaging 1.6mm. WAY UNDER the danger zone. And our little one was measuring a couple of days ahead of schedule. We could see the baby’s stomach and bladder too. It was just amazing!!!

I had to do some blood work to go along with the NT scan and we should get the results soon ( I think).

Our little nugget just kept sticking it’s tongue out at us and waiving it’s hand around. We got some amazing pictures for you all to see.

The top pics are profile pics and then it's little hand.

We have an appointment with our OB on March 16th. I guess they’ll listen to the heartbeat and take my blood pressure and weight. Not sure what else they’re going to do.

Then on April 12th we have a follow up appointment with the specialist and we’ll find out for sure if we’re having a boy or a girl. How exciting is that?!
